He was supposed to be his friends wingman when he walked up to the pretty blonde girl at the part that night. But as he struck a conversation about the Dave Matthews Band song playing over the speaker and  he heard her laugh and saw her eyes twinkle, his wingman duties went out the door. Being the dreamer that he is, Nick had envisioned the girl of his dreams for so long. As they bonded over their love of Notre Dame football and the Dave Matthews Band, Nick knew that it would always be Olivia from that moment on.

On their first date, being true to his college sport, Nick took Olivia to center field of the Cal State baseball complex. As candles lit the field and Frank Sinatra echoed through the stadium, the two Midwest college kids fell in love in the middle of Bakersfield, California. And they fell in love fast. A few years down the road, Nick brought Olivia back to the same baseball field, and with the loose change and travel baseball money he had stored in a shoe box titled “The Ring Fund”, he gave her a diamond and a question that would change both of their lives.

Their day was pure bliss as friends and family toasted to the fateful night that Olivia and Nick had crossed paths. As the cool fall breeze mixed with the summer air, Olivia talked about how they had waited over 700 days since the proposal to become husband and wife. Finally, 700 days had passed and as tears streamed down almost every face in the crowd, Nick and Olivia became husband and wife.

Nick and Olivia, your day was so full of joy and so much love – documenting it was the greatest privilege and I wish I could relive it again and again. I can’t wait to see where life takes you and I’ll be praying for sunny weather and lots of margaritas as you depart for the Virgin Islands – xx, M & M

Sometimes, you just gotta get away. Two weeks ago, the stars aligned with work schedules and wedding life and flights to California to visit my vacationing family became available to Brandon and I for a pretty decent deal. We only live once right? How could we say no? So last week we packed our bags and headed to California for a few days to pack in some days of hiking, beaches, In-and-Out Burgers, and an engagement session. Because when you’re on the beaches of California, 55 days away from your own wedding and your second-shooter (who is also my sister) is readily available- you can’t pass it up right?
