There’s tears in my eyes as I type this, because yesterday two of my best friends finally married each other. After decades of being in each others lives, it was about freaking time and it was so long awaited. Tyler used to sit at my bar rail and share desserts with my husband as he talked about the girls he was seeing or talking too. Even if the girl was the complete package, Tyler never could seem to settle. Finally, I asked him why. His reply: “They’re just not Kelsey.” Funnily enough, just around the same time Kelsey was crying in the car to her sister saying the same thing about Tyler.
A few short weeks later, they reconnected for good and decided to make things work even though they lived states apart and lead completely different lives. We’d meet up with them on the weekends Kelsey visited town to go ice skating and sing karaoke at the local hole-in-the-wall bar. Tyler, who had always been restless and a bit wild, was so calm with Kelsey. Two opposites attract and that couldn’t be more true for these two. We hoped and prayed that this would last and it wouldn’t be another fling like their high-school relationship.
We’ve watched these two work so hard through it all. The long distance, the job changes, the crazy summers at horse shows, moving into the same city, and then buying a house. We watched as Tyler proposed in a small downtown garden as tears streamed down Kelsey’s face. We heard about how she dreamed to wear the veil that her mother made and all of her sisters wore on their wedding day, and how she wanted nothing more than to read her vows to child in the town she grew up in. Their wedding day was nothing more that absolutely perfect and so long awaited, these two had worked for decades to get to this point and I’m so dang proud of them.
Tyler and Kelsey, you two. I barely have words to describe how completely thankful we are that you’re in our lives and that we got to stand by your side on your wedding day. It was the greatest privilege to document and to witness. It was the best day and we love you so much. All the love – xx, M + B + M + K
