I don’t think I’ve ever been this emotionally attached to a wedding season. For a few months at the beginning of this year, I didn’t even know the next time we would see a wedding cross our path. So as we sit here collecting our favorite and our client’s favorite images from the past year, we want to share every single one. Because every image means our couples fought hard and saw their wedding through, against all the odds. We’re just really proud of them.
Weddings are an honor and a privilege. It’s not lost on us that we’re witnessing and documenting some of the biggest days in people’s lives. This year really brought us back to square one – it grounded us and changed us. Saying it was hard is an understatement. But it was so powerful.
We witnessed outdoor dance floors at sunset, tearing up behind our mask and camera because people were finally gathering. We logged into Zoom as we watched our couples recite vows with family and friends dressing up and eating their favorite take out in their living rooms. Dark courthouses and first kisses with the pull of a mask. Giant “dream” wedding turned micro wedding and having couples express it was something they never knew they wanted but was unimaginably perfect.
I remember people finally gathering and wedding days being savored more than ever. Phones were put away. Hugs weren’t taken for granted. Guests were truly witnesses.
“I wish there was a way to know you were in the good old days before you actually left them” (a classic Office quote if you don’t know) but man, when the good old days come back, it’s even better. Filled to the brim with gratefulness and awe.
We ended this year with 43 weddings in total, out of 56 originally. And damn, we cherished those 43. If you’ve gotten married this year – I’m really proud of you. And for the 13 of our couples that pushed to 2021, we are so ready to get you freakin’ married.
All the love,
