She was the girl next door, sort of. They lived on the same block during their time at college and Dan would watch the bubbly education student from across the room and developed a crush. A big one. But Dan knew the timing wasn’t right, and they graduated, parted ways, and fell out of touch. And as a few years passed, Jess looked down at her phone one day to discover a Tinder match and a message from the boy who used to live down the street. A few weeks later they sat at their favorite restaurant and talked the night away, bonding over sports, good beers, travel, and their Purdue school spirit. 

As they stood underneath Sagrada Familia Basilica in Barcelona a year and a half later, Dan knelt down and pulled out a ring. He had known for so long that Jess was the one, and now the timing was right. They spent the next three weeks celebrating by touring Europe, dining at local European restaurants and dreaming of their life together.
