Lee Ann had envisioned a small, intimate beach wedding surrounded by a small gathering of family and friend. The sun would be setting, the waves crashing, and the weather warm. Mother Nature had different plans, and the day of Lee Ann and Stephen’s wedding was a constant torrential downpour. Most brides (including myself), would have had a complete meltdown. Lee Ann was unlike any other bride I have ever worked with. She took a deep breath and her family cleared the furniture out of the cozy cottage family room. Her and Stephen got married in front of a crackling fireplace, with the smells of lilac and the stormy beach in the air and the rain drizzling outside. Tears were still shed, but happy ones, as she read her vows to the love of her life. We rushed down to the beach to capture a few photos in the rain, which turned out to be perfect, beautiful, and oh so romantic.
Rain on the wedding day must be good luck, because the reception the next weekend was filled with sunny skies, warm summer air, and a gorgeous sunset. It couldn’t have been more perfect. Sky lanterns were lit in the memory of Lee Ann’s dad, who passed away several years ago. After several hours of laughter, Lee Ann and Steven ran off through a arch of sparklers, naturally living happily ever after.
Lee Ann and Stephen, I love your easy-going natures and the love you have for one another. Adventerous couples are my favorite, and the way you two embraced the heavy rains and strong winds as you stood on the cold beach, smiling and wet for the pictures, was more than I ever expected. You two rocked it. I hope your honeymoon was filled with sunny skies and warm air. -xx, M
