He claims he first noticed her because she was walking slower down the campus steps than anyone else. But in reality, it wasn’t just the crutches and the cast that caught his attention. Her bright eyes and contagious laugh had caught his attention long before they passed each other on the steps that day. Between attending the same small college campus and Katlin working at the sports complex where James trained, it was only a matter of time that they collide.
Their friendship kindled after James shot Katlin a message through Facebook, and shortly after they found themselves on a date to a county fall festival. As they explored the festival amongst the Indiana changing leaves, they had a difficult time making the conversation end. Before they knew it, they were graduating, enrolling in grad school, and planning their hopes and dreams so they revolved around each other.
James proposed in Katlin’s favorite coffee shop, Brew Ha, in the early morning before an entire day of just-engaged celebrations. With a “Will You Marry Me” mug and a crowd of teary-eyed people witnessing the moment, James asked Katlin to be his wife as she breathlessly answered him with a heart full of joy. We thought it was only appropriate that we revisit the coffee shop to reminisce, and to explore the town that Katlin calls home.
Katlin and James, exploring Columbia City and learning about your lives was SO much fun and you couldn’t have picked a more perfect fall day. Seriously counting down until we can celebrate your wedding day next August! – xx, M
