Last week I made the trek down to Austin, Texas to fill my stomach with it’s mecca of vegan food, but more importantly, to learn from the queen of in-home sessions, Laurken Kendall herself. Nobody can make a couple dry-hump or laugh as genuinely as she does. This woman is a magician. She has the true raw talent of extracting every ounce of emotion and vulnerability from a person, leaving them an open book that makes them so easy to document.

More importantly, Lauren and Jordan are magnetic, hilarious souls who have a way of lighting up a room. They can go from one end of the spectrum to the other as far as their relationship and mood – one moment their competitive spirit brings out the obnoxious, teasing side of their relationship and the next moment they’re wrapped up in each other, letting the moment sink in. Lauren and Jordan love a good game so we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to dust off the vintage monopoly game and watch as they tried their best to look cute in photos while trash talking and competitively playing at the same time.

I’m supposed to say more because of SEO guidelines, but I really have no words because this workshop took my breath away. Laurken, thank you for being a kick ass teacher and pouring your heart and soul into everything you do. You are a badass and I will forever admire (and idolize) you. Lauren and Jordan, thank you for lending us your faces and your bodies and being totally cool with a dozen photographers in your face for an hour. I would have been a hot mess but you freaking rocked it. Austin, TX, thank you for having the best food and some much needed warm weather. There will definitely be a next time, xx- M
